Where Two Michigan's Meet and Michigan History Began!

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization, without them it would be impossible to accomplish the projects undertaken by the MHS.  Work is done in the areas of researching genealogy, assisting in cataloging artifacts, membership drive and fundraising activities, acting as docents (with training) for tours and groups, and collecting and archiving photos and oral histories for the St. Ignace Heritage Center.

They also work in the Fort de Buade Museum working in the Museum Store, cleaning the museum and store, greeting visitors and giving tours, aiding staff during summer events, distributing posters and many other short term projects.

Becoming a volunteer ambassador is a great way to immerse your self in historic preservation by utilizing your talents and skills to learn and share our 300+ years of heritage in the Michilimackinac area.
