St. Ignace, Michigan was established by Father Jacques Marquette at his arrival in 1671 and named the mission “St. Ignace di Missilimackinac”. Residents and visitors congregate during this week to celebrate the vivid and rich history of this area, which has been known as a “rendezvous” area for thousands of years first with the native peoples and then with the Europeans who followed. History week celebrates the melding of cultures & family – whether you reside here or just love to visit – St. Ignace is calling you home!!
