museumThe Heritage Center, located within the Fort de Buade Complex, is the “go to” place for family history research. Computers with access to the internet and are available as well as our collection of local records with staff and volunteer genealogists to assist you. Our center also has amassed a great number of family and local photographs, postcards, church and other records which are available to assist you in your quest for family histories.

The Michilimackinac Historical Society presents Fort de Buade Museum & Galleries, featuring rare historic artifacts and unique art collections. Conveniently located in the heart of St. Ignace’s museum district, our warm and welcomling staff invite you enjoy an informal gathering Friday evenings to view the collections and enjoy special entertainment and refreshments. Each week will feature an exhibiting artist, author, storyteller, historical presenter or musician.

St. Ignace, Michigan was established by Father Jacques Marquette at his arrival in 1671 and named the mission “St. Ignace di Missilimackinac”. Residents and visitors congregate during this week to celebrate the vivid and rich history of this area, which has been known as a “rendezvous” area for thousands of years first with the native peoples and then with the Europeans who followed. History week celebrates the melding of cultures & family – whether you reside here or just love to visit – St. Ignace is calling you home!!
